about

The PIQSIQ sisters are back with a follow-up holiday single to their widely acclaimed throat singing Christmas album “Quviasugvik: In Search of Harmony.”

During this time of Covid-19, Inuksuk and Tiffany have longed to gather with other singers, a beloved solstice tradition, however, the dangers of coming together to sing prevent this from happening as it once did. Choirs can no longer offer the community of safety they once did, and mourning the ability to gather that many others are feeling, the sisters have come together to reinvent the choir.

During these uncertain times, when breath is seen as a danger and our isolation is at its peak, the sisters have created a vocal community, finding harmony in the uncertainty. Their voices lift and crescendo as they find ways to celebrate coming together in different ways during this dark time.

One of their favourite holiday songs, “Coventry Carol” sews together a heavenly choir to the beat of katajjaq, Inuit throat singing. This bittersweet rendition draws on the joys of the season while acknowledging the pain of being separated from our loved ones.
